In celebration of the international humanitarian organization, Right To Play, and the Urban Zen Foundation, families are invited for a Right To Play Day from 3:00 – 5:00pm (adult supervision required) followed by a reception at Urban Zen from 6:00-8:00pm (adults only). Festivities will commence on the lawn in front of the Breakwater Yacht Club with four play stations led by world-class Right To Play Athlete Ambassadors, Vanessa Chakour, professional boxer; Jason Rogers and Tim Morehouse, Olympic silver medalist fencers; and Devon Harris, three-time member of the Jamaican Olympic Bobsled team. There will be a music station led by Sag Harbor’s own, singer/songwriter Alexa Ray Joel. The featuring songs inspired by Right To Play participants are accompanied by African drumming. The art station will have free face painting and tribal art printing. A special book signing with Devon Harris, a team member featured in the motion picture Cool Runnings, will have his children’s book “Yes, I can!” available for sale.
Admission is free and includes complimentary refreshments. Recommended age of children is 6 to 12 years old.
“Right To Play is an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Working in both the humanitarian and development context, Right To Play builds local capacity by training community leaders as Coaches to deliver its programs in 21 countries affected by war, poverty, and disease in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. Founded in 2000, Right To Play is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has national offices in Canada, Norway, The Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The national offices raise funds, build awareness for Right To Play programs and advocate for Sport for Development.” Says Johann Olav Koss, Right To Play’s President and CEO, “It’s extremely gratifying to reflect on our origins and to think back on how far we’ve come since Right To Play began over ten years ago. We are now a fully-fledged international development organization operating in over 20 countries around the world and reaching 700,000 children on a weekly basis.”
A photography exhibit featuring works by Sag Harbor local, Bettina Stelle, and her visit to Right To Play’s program in Ghana will be on display in Urban Zen at 4 Bay Street. In addition, photographer and philanthropist, Elizabeth Jordan, has kindly donated two works for auction which will also be on display at Urban Zen.
All proceeds will benefit Right To Play & Urban Zen including Right To Play merchandise available for sale such as their iconic Red Ball featuring the logo “Look After Yourself Look After One Another.”

Parents and children will have the opportunity to learn through playing the same games and programs children in countries like Ghana, Lebanon, Peru, and Pakistan do.”
